Festivals for You to Enjoy This Fall

Alabama Fall Festivals

Fall is a beautiful time of year in Alabama. The weather is starting to cool and everyone is in a jovial mood before the stress of the holidays set in. Fall is a wonderful time to experience festivals and fairs in the heart of Dixie.

Alabama Frontier Days at Fort Toulouse – Fort Jackson Park

Quickly be transported to the late 1700s during Alabama Frontier Days at Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park. Experience the lifestyle of Creek Indians as they encounter the first British soldiers. Then, watch as American and French soldiers come to change their way of life forever. Alabama Frontier Days commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Fort Jackson where the Creek Indians were forced to give 20 million acres, most of the current state of Alabama, to the United States. Along the way, listen to ballads being sung and musicians playing period music. Above all else, do not miss the magic tricks.

National Peanut Festival at the Houston County Fairgrounds

Peanuts are the food of choice at the National Peanut Festival, but you will be amazed at the different ways that they are served. Since almost 25 percent of all peanuts commercially sold in the world originate within 100 miles of Dothan, the Houston County Fairgrounds is the logical place to have this festival. While you will want to eat peanuts, there is plenty else to do at this 10 day festival dedicated to the goober. You can squeal while riding the rides at the carnival, sing along during the concerts, participate in the parade or watch as enterprising young people exhibit their prize animals.
