With the New Year here, getting fit is on a lot of people’s to-do list. So, why not give back while you’re at it? Start 2018 off the right way and make plans to attend these January races with family and friends.

Panther Pride 5K and Panther Prowl Fun Run

If you would like to give back to your local community, participating in the Panther Pride race is a great start. Join in on this 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, January 20. All proceeds will go toward the Murphy High School Faculty Allocation Fund. This school employs dozens of educators, so this is definitely a great cause to support.

This race will be held at Murphy High School in Mobile, AL. The 5K course runs though the community that surrounds the high school. The Fun Run, otherwise known as “Panther Prowl”, consists of one lap around the school Horseshoe. Start making plans to attend, today!

Registration

Admission into the Panther Pride race ranges from $12-$29. This fee includes a special race shirt, and the price varies based off of age and shirt size.

You can register by mail, online (until 4 AM on January 19), or in person at McCoy Outdoor in Mobile, Run-N-Tri in Mobile, or Running Wild in Fairhope (until Noon on January 18).

*Submit your race application by January 7 to guarantee that you receive a race shirt.

Awards

There will be multiple awards presented to the top male and female racers in this event. They include the following:

  • Top Overall
  • Masters
  • Grandmasters
  • Senior Grandmasters
  • Race Walker
  • Top in age group: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75-99.

The Charity Chase 2018

Join in on “Mobile’s premier joint-charity fundraising event” – The Charity Chase 5K. This upcoming event provides you with the opportunity to run and raise money for your favorite charity within the area. All you have to do is win First Place overall or place within your age division. So, lace up your workout shoes and get ready to race!

The 2018 Charity Chase is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 27 from 8 AM until 10 AM. It will be held at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. When you arrive on the day of the race, be sure to pick up your race packet from SGA Pavilion from 6:15-7:45 AM.

Registration

Admission for The Charity Chase 2018 is $20 when you register in advance. Registration on race day is an additional $5. Each participant’s registration fee contributes directly to his/her charity of choice. However, winners will receive additional funds that will be donated, courtesy of the race’s sponsors.

Awards

There are various categories in which male and female racers can place in this competition. They include the following:

  • Top Overall
  • Top in age group: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
