Quick and Easy Thanksgiving Crafts to Try at Home

Thanksgiving Decorations

Fall is the beginning of a festive, holiday season. So, this is a great time to try out crafting! Brighten up your home with these quick and easy Thanksgiving crafts.

Thanksgiving Garland

You’ll Need: A grapevine garland, a package of clothespins, mod podge, gorilla glue tape, hot glue, hot glue gun, scrapbook paper, ribbon, glitter, fabric scraps, faux flowers and leaves

Step 1: Unroll the garland and size it against your mantle (or wherever you’d like to hang it). Then, cut it a little longer than the size you’ve measured so that it can hang.

Step 2: If your flowers are bulky or connected, cut the pieces apart so that they can be spread out and placed onto the garland.

Step 3: Tape the garland onto a sturdy surface while you work (a wall is a good place). Then, use the gorilla tape to place the faux flowers across the string in the design that you choose.

Step 4: Take the ribbon and wrap it around the length of the garland. Be sure to hot glue the ribbon to each end of the garland so that it stays in place.

Step 5: Use the fabric scraps to make fabric rosettes. Then, hot glue these rosettes onto the garland.

Step 6: Brush a layer of mod podge on top of one side of your clothespin. Then, sprinkle glitter over the glue and press down to ensure that it adheres. Allow the glue to dry. Then, hot glue the clothespins to the garland.

Step 7: Take your faux leaves (plastic or cut out paper pieces) and clip them inside of the clothespins. There should be one leaf for each clothespin.

Step 8: Use gorilla tape (or ribbon) to adhere your decorated garland to your mantle.

Chalkboard Sign

You’ll Need: A chalkboard, a frame that fits around it, chalk, liquid chalk markers, glitter spray, items that you’d like to adhere to the chalkboard (like leaves)

Step 1: Select a quote or a saying that you’d like to write on your chalkboard. Some festive ideas are, “Give Thanks”, “Be Grateful”, or “Happy Thanksgiving”.

Step 2: Use the chalk or liquid chalk marker to write the quote on the chalkboard. You can use PicMonkey to print your quote out in the font and size that you’d like, or freehand the quote.

**If you choose to print your quote out, consider using this process: Flip the printed quote over and rub the chalk over the back side of the paper. Then, carefully position it right-side-up on the chalkboard and tape it down. Use the chalk to trace the lettering and remove the paper. You’ll see a faint outline of the lettering. Afterward, use the liquid chalk markers to trace and fill in the letters.

Step 3: Spray your glitter spray around the frame. Then, position and adhere the leaves and other items to the chalkboard. Place the chalkboard into the frame and find a home for it inside of your residence.
